Monster Macro

Over the weekend my daughter and I made Halloween finger puppets!

I think I had more fun taking their pictures than actually making the puppets.

Here’s a few pics:

She gets to pass them out to her classmates tomorrow.

Macro is my favorite option on any camera… and most cameras have it!!  And if they don’t have it, you shouldn’t buy that camera.

Here’s on of my personal favorites.  I took this at the Rose Garden in Raleigh.  It’s the shell of a little secada…  the bug, not the singer.

secada

He was peeping over the side of a tree stump.  I spent the remainder of the day putting the poor thing in various positions trying to capture a better shot.  But this one… the one where I first saw him…. right where he left… himself.  That was my favorite shot!

I don’t always have my camera with me… but I always see something I have to take a picture of.  So… I have an entire gallery on my LG enV2.  And, I have to say… with it’s little 2.0 megapixel camera… I rather like the outcome.

I have my random “Secret Hearts” gallery featuring works such as this:

The barista at Cafe Helio’s in Raleigh made a heart in my coffee.

And then there’s my “Bathroom Art” gallery:

And let’s not forget the “Secret Hearts/Bathroom Art Combo”:

So what kind of Cell Phone Photography are you taking (clean photos only)??

send it to us at Studio4TenPhotography@gmail.com or just comment us and link us to your TwitPic account… cause if that’s not an outlet for Cell Phone Photography, I don’t know what is.

David LaChapelle

I believe it was this photo here:

lil kim blow up doll

Lil’ Kim: Blow Up Doll by David LaChapelle, that first got my attention.  I can’t recall exactly what magazine… I want to say it was Vibe (please comment if you know)… it first appeared in, but from that moment on… I was hooked.  I had always bought magazines just to rip the pictures out… my walls were covered.  Vanity Fair was my favorite (photography-wise) back in the mid 90s.

But it was this picture and it’s vibrant colors that made me want to be a photographer.  Not to mention…  she totally looks like a blow up doll!

Pic of the Week 10.18

2009 October 19

So we’re gonna get the blog started of with a Pic of the Week!

This weeks photo was taken at a live show at The Berkeley Cafe in Raleigh, NC

One of our favorite Brooklyn based Americana bands…. (ok… our only favorite Brooklyn based Americana band) YARN, performed a few weeks back and we were there to snap only about 300 pics.

This particular photo is of member Rod Hohl (Electric Guitar, Dobro, Vocals).

The Details::

We shot this using a Nikon D40 – 50mm lens. We set our ISO to 800 and then played around with shutterspeeds and f stops (I don’t remember the exact one for this particular photo).  This was our first concert shoot, so it was a lot of trial and error.  Once we got the photo in photoshop we LOVED IT.  It was just missing something. . . . so we hit it with actions from Totally Rad.  (If you are a photographer and have not heard on them shame on you and go here now!!!)  We used about 3 different actions including “Bitchin B&W” with the opacity changed.

CHALLENGE…

We’d love to see what you can do with the “Bitchin B&W” action.  Submit your entries and you just might land a spot on our blog… and who knows… maybe even Pic of the Week!
